Backdrop stands have been around for EVER but not very many photographers know the anatomy of a backdrop stand. This knowledge is really helpful because it it helps you use this amazing tool so much faster and more efficiently!

As you can see, it’s pretty straight forward, right? Well, once you get the stand in front of you, all the knobs look the same, it’s all folded up and you find yourself asking “Ummm… how do I work this?” Well, wonder no more!

3 things you need to know to quickly understand backdrop stands.

  1. Tripod Base - This allows you to have a big base to anchor whatever you are using with the backdrop stand to stay ON THE GROUND. Tipping is bad. haha!

  2. Adjuster Knobs - these allow you to adjust the hight of the entire backdrop stand, whether you’re setting up something big, or shooting a small product shoot, the backdrop stand will extend up to 8 ft tall. Yay!

  3. Adjustable Rod - The rod is your best friend. Use it for so many things (more blog posts about that later!) It’s not just for hanging paper, it can be used for loads of things! It easily adjusts its length like a tension rod for curtains.
